If you buy LEDs, you have a choice of options and compatibility with dimmers only complicates things.
Even if you choose the right color temperature, lumen rating, and the desired beam angle, you might encounter another problem: the dimmers. In many cases, your existing incandescent dimmers will not work well with the new LED Spotlights. Unlike incandescent bulbs, all of which are indistinct, LEDs are dimming or not working.

Do you need a special dimmer for LED lights?

The less electricity there was, the weaker the light. ... If you want you’re LED to be dimmable, you need to do one of two things: find a LED downlight that is compatible with traditional dimmers, or replaces your current dimmer switch with a state-of-the-art LED-compatible system.

If you use a LED ceiling light with an incandescent dimmer, you can see that the downlight:

  • ·         Do not turn on at all.
  • ·         It only works for a percentage of brightness 100.
  • ·        Turn on but buzz or buzz loudly.
  • ·         Flickers at specific levels or all dimmers.

There is also a chance that the LED will work properly, but will turn off or "fall" below a certain level of brightness. This occurs when the applied voltage (or the average of the applied voltage) drops below the minimum voltage required to power the LED.

There are some things you MUST know before turning down the LED downlight:

·         First, choose the gradation method
·         Do not buy cheap drivers
·         Test before buying the bulk order
·         Use dimmers designed for LEDs
·         Check that the LED lamp fits - many do not
·         Never mix different manufacturing dimming lamps and match them
·         Check, verify and check again
